Downdate

I got a Netflix subscription. Cool Hand Luke should be here Wednesday. The Producers should be here shortly thereafter. Other movies in the queue:

  • The Maltese Falcon
  • Cujo
  • Mallrats
  • Easy Rider
  • One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
  • Patton
  • The Guns of Navarone
  • On the Waterfront
  • The Graduate
  • The Bridge on the River Kwai
  • Evolution
  • Nothing But Trouble

Let me know if any of these suck and I should remove them. Or if you want to recommend anything. Or if you want to watch any of these.

I installed a new dishwasher over the weekend (thanks parents!) That was fun.

Recently Purchased CDs:

  • Dave Brubeck’s Greatest Hits. Good! Exactly the kind of jazz I was hoping for. It’s very easy to listen to in the background. The CD seems kinda short, though.
  • Harvey Danger – Little by Little. They’re allowing free downloads of this album, which is totally cool. But I like it a lot, and I think I’m going to purchase it along with their 2nd album.
  • Fiona Apple – Extraordinary Machine. Pretty good. I think I still like her first CD the best.
  • Dave Matthews Band – LiveTrax Vol 4, Richmond, VA, 4-30-96. Classic DMB. Not quite as, uh, jamy as I was hoping.
  • Better Than Ezra – Before the Robots. Their free concert was really freaking awesome, so I thought I’d try their new CD. It definitely has some good songs on it. It’s either my 2nd or 3rd favorite Better Than Ezra album (behind Deluxe and maybe Friction Baby)
  • Oasis – Don’t Believe the Truth. I haven’t listened to this enough yet to really say anything about it.

Were you just looking through that AFI Top 100 Films list and picking random ones? Because if you did, you stole my idea!

I’m waiting for my sheets to dry so I can go to bed. I even have time to look up how to make a bulleted list and then make a bulleted list.

    • Shaun of the Dead
    • 2001:A Space Odyssey
    • Fargo
    • Unleashed
    • The Rocky Horror Picture Show
    • Dead Alive
    • Midnight Run
    • Army of Darkness
    • Equilibrium
    • Soylent Green
    • Total Recall
    • Rumble in the Bronx
    • We’re No Angels
    • Alice’s Restaurant
    • Stella (the TV show)

Look at you Miss Fancy Pants and cool satiny shirt!

Yes, I definitely looked at the AFI Top 100, but I picked stuff I thought would be good. I’ve seen some of these, but I’ll add them.

2001: A Space Odyssey – Something tells me you won’t like this one. I don’t really like it. In fact, it’s my basis for not liking Stanley Kubrick movies. Although I didn’t mind Dr. Strangelove. And A Clockword Orange was interesting.

      Soylent Green – It’s fun!

Total Recall – “I’ll be back.”

Rumble in the Bronx – My favorite Jackie Chan movie!

And man, you’re all about some zombies.

Just two! I think? Oh, unless Shaun of the Dead counts.

And yeah, I meant to put A Clockwork Orange up there too. I haven’t seen any of that stuff.

I’ve seen Rumble in the Bronx too, but I’d like to see it again. It’s pretty sweet.

hehe, you took pictures of your dishwasher.

Kudos to Mallrats and Guns of Navarone – I’ve had an urge to watch both recently. So why don’t you just hold off on Mallrats until I come for Christmas ;) And hmm… Pieces of April is a kind of dark humor independent movie that lets you pay homage to the now pregnant Katie Holmes. I know you want to.

    Or maybe Hackers. :)
