Back in the days when I was young

I just reminisced about the time at that Better Than Ezra concert two weeks ago, near the end, when they picked someone from the audience to come up on stage, and they tried to get the most energetic person, and they gave her a cowbell, and then they started playing “Don’t Fear The Reaper” by Blue Oyster Cult. Holy Jinkies that was spectacular. One of the best on stage antics I’ve ever seen.

Right up there with the time Ben Folds told a long, odd story about some army guys in the desert that found a cave then went spelunking but then one guy paniced and they had to knock him out and drag him back up out of the water to save him, then said “This next song has nothing to do with that, but it’s called…”

Spectacular.

Or when I saw the New Radicals play “Mother We Just Can’t Get Enough” in a packed house at The Ritz. Ahhh, moments to live for. I need to see more concerts. It has been decided. Like some Virginia Coalition up in this piece. The Dandy Warhols would be good. And Kings of Leon.

  1. Why aren’t we going to Lollapalooza? They sure have a lot of bands. I guess, probably something to do with the $135-ish tickets and the fact that it’s in Chicago, huh?
