My car was found

It’s in pretty good shape, but more on that later.

Yesterday at 10:54am I got a call from a Sunnyvale police officer who said she had found my car and asked if I could come pick it up. It was about half a mile from my house, parked on a side street in a neighborhood. Apparently a concerned citizen had seen the car parked in the same spot for a few days and notified the police. So I asked Vijay to drive me over there.

The doors were unlocked when the officer found the car. The radio is missing, my two amplifiers, and my subs. The gas tank was extremely empty and the battery was dead. The ignition was turned to “II” and there was no key in it… there’s something broken there. I can put my key half way in and turn it from I to II to on, but I can take my key out from any of those positions and the car continues running. The left front tire looks a little under inflated and there’s a small black spot of possibly grease on the back bumper.

Other than that everything appears fine. So annoying. I’m about to take some pictures of everything then clean it out and inspect it a little closer.

Congrats! It’s great to hear you got it back. We’ve all known that little car forever!

Is the insurance going to cover all the repairs?

I’m surprised they just let you take it. You didn’t have to fill out any paperwork or anything?

Thanks. I haven’t talked to the insurance people yet. I left a message with the insurance lady I’ve been talking to after I picked up the car, but she hasn’t gotten back to me.

The officer that I met with took the car off the list of stolen cars, but other than that, yeah, she let me just take it. I mean, I had the key, and it is my car after all.

  2. Glad to hear you got it back Mark. That really sucks that it’s somewhat messed up. Hopefully you and Emily are done with all of your crummy experiences for a while.
