Evens and beginnings

I feel like they’ve been movieizing a lot of books and comics recently. All the Marvel movies, Superman (again), Batman (again), I, Robot, War of the Worlds, The Lord of the Rings books, I Am Legend. I’m gonna make a prediction that someone will make a movie based on Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series within the next 8 years.

I realized that I’m not a huge fan of Martin Scorsese’s movies. They’re well made and stuff, but I feel like they’re missing huge chunks of the story and it’s just annoying. These are the ones I’ve seen:

  • Taxi Driver
  • Raging Bull
  • Goodfellas
  • Casino
  • The Departed

I saw a guy with a One Laptop Per Child XO on Caltrain a few weeks ago. I wonder why he had it? Maybe he did that “give one get one” thing they had going on a little while ago? Maybe he works on the software?

    the Foundation

They’ve been talking about a Foundation movie for years, personally I don’t think the entire series transfers to a movie format very well at all, but I think it would be great as a TV series. If they were going to do one movie, it would have to be based on Prelude to Foundation, when Hari Seldon is formulating his theories and the whole thing takes place on Trantor.

I’d love to see any thing done on the Foundation series though, movie, TV, whatever. For me its simply the most impressive and interesting science fiction world I’ve known.

i have to agree with this G.

The weird thing is, I just was wondering if they were going to ever make a movie of the series a day before you posted this, and started searching the internets for any information about it. I found the same information linked to above.

I have to agree with other comments I read that the first book doesn’t work well as a movie just cause it’s a bunch of stories that I think would be hard to connect, and if they somehow managed, it would be a connection that would anger fans. And I do not want to be angered.

I think they should do a TV series as well. Then maybe I’d get cable.

At the same time, I think it might be interesting to bring in the Robot Series as well, Elijah Bailey story first, followed by the foundation series… what a set of shows that’d be…

Those actually costs $200 to make. Consumers like us have to pay $400 to get one. $200 goes to your laptop and the other $200 goes to a child.

I talked with a lady using it at Buffalo’s on Creedmore.

That means that you can use any stylus or any stylus-like object–even your finger. That can be very handy and certainly adds a little bit of that Minority Report -feel as you whip windows around with your fingertip.
