I up and rewrote large parts of the oscar protocol in Gaim. Direct connect and file transfer work very smoothly now (it’s not in 2.0.0 beta3, but it’ll be in the next release). And best of all the peer connection code is pretty reusable (for things like voice and maybe video). Thanks to Emily for being patient/busy with school while I worked on it!

What are your thoughts about Adium switching to Joscar?
Damn LJ. That was me.
“Yes sir. I damn thee!”
I don’t have any hard feelings–they did what they felt was best for their users. I mean, our old file transfer code WAS pretty sucky. I’m curious to know if it’s difficult to use a Java library from an objective C program, and if that has problems of it’s own…
I would, of course, love it if they switched back to using our oscar code. But if not, that’s cool too.
For what it’s worth, calling Objective-C from Java kind of sucks.
That picture is really nifty. Did you know it would turn out like that when you took it?
Yeah, I had an inkling it would.
That’s cool. I just thought it was a great shot. I can’t imagine if I’d even notice it, though.
