Desktop managers or windows managers or whatever should automatically create a notification area if an application needs one. Is that possible? Does it make sense? Someone should do that in Gnome, KDE and XFCE. If I had bounty money to dole out I’d create a bounty for that.

I guess my point is that I don’t think users should have to deal with adding/removing a notification area. So if the notification area was ALWAYS there, that would be good, too.
