The end of the week end is the next week beginning

Amy gave me The BFG by Roald Dahl. It might have been for “winter holiday”…? Anyway, the important point here is that Amy is awesome. Er, but not as awesome as Emily. … Have I covered all my bases?

So I read that, and it was good. I think maybe at some time in the distant past I had mentioned that I like the book at lot, but had only read it once, in 5th grade, and that it was one of the few Roald Dahl books I didn’t have.

Then I remembered that I liked reading stuff, and I made a list of books. I read H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine. I liked it. It’s only around 140 pages, so there’s not much room for character building. There also aren’t many characters. There’s an inventor who builds a time machine and goes into the future. He returns and tells his AMAZING story to some friends. The book is written from the point of view of one of the friends. However, it is almost all just a transcription of the story told by the inventor. I like the style of writing; it definitely has a British feel to it–and also very proper. It’s easy to imagine how the inventor speaks. It looks like it was one of his earlier books (if not his first), published in 1896.

Next up: Ender’s Game.

I love that commercial for the Tiny House reality show. “You are awesome.” “This is kinda awesome.” “This is not awesome.” “You’ve got to be kidding me.” “I just want to make an omelet!”

It is the way of spiritual growth: a man must go forward from where he stands; he can not jump to the absolute.

  1. Ender’s Game is way awesome. Will this be a re-read? Or are you a first timer?

    Ender’s Game

Ender’s Game is one of my all time favorites… great ‘next up’ choice for a return to pleasure reading. If only college would leave me alone long enough to do some of my own… :)

It’s okay, we all know Amy is way more awesome than me. That’s why I’m going to have to kill her. There can only be ONE best! I also have to kill almost everyone else in the world. So I can be best. BUT ONE DAY MY DREAMS WILL COME TRUE.

I’ve never read Ender’s Game. You know what else I’ve never read? Catcher in the Rye.
